Individual member

Individual membership may be granted to an independent professional artist who has presented their artistic work in a professional context recognized by their peers, to a curator, an author, and/or a researcher in the media arts and who:

  • has more than two (2) years of professional practice in media arts;
  • has produced and disseminated at least one (1) independent work in a professional context;
  • corresponds to the definition of a professional independent artist pursuant to the relevant legislation;
  • has as their main artistic activity the practice, research, writing or curating of media arts;
  • shares similar goals to that of the organisation.

Associate member

Associate membership may be granted to a person who shares similar goals to that of the organisation:

  • to independent emerging creators in the field of media arts;
  • to independent creators working in other artistic practices and with less than two (2) years of recognized professional practice in media arts;
  • has neither the right to vote nor the right to sit on the Board of Directors.

Supporting member

Supporting membership may be granted to any individual or organization that acts in solidarity with the independent media arts. This category of membership receives notices of and may attend meetings, but has neither the right to vote at meetings nor to sit on the Board of Directors. They receive relevant information from the CQAM.

Organization member

Organization membership may be granted to any organization that:

  • is incorporated as a non-profit organization or as a cooperative managed by its members, or as a collective with at least two years of active existence and is recognized by funding bodies;
  • is administered by a board of directors composed of a majority of professional artists;
  • devotes most of its annual activities to one or more practices in the media arts discipline;
  • subscribes to the principles of copyright and intellectual property recognition;
  • shares similar goals to that of the organisation.

  • Automatic receipt of all notices, with the option of attending all Corporation assemblies

  • Upon invitation, the right to participate in steering and working committees
  • Receipt of the twice-monthly electronic newsletter
  • Assistance and advice on a range  of issues
  • Eligibility for a municipal grant covering part of yearly studio rental costs
  • ASSURART damage insurance program : 15%* discount on property, equipment, civil liability and artwork insurance coverage (*Some eligibility conditions apply, including the member’s claim history, financial health and some activities.)
  • Discount for festivals and media arts events
  • Images/work excerpts on our website
  • Promotion (on the website) of continuing education programs offered by member organizations
  • Access to the meeting room

  • Receipt of most CQAM communications (twice-monthly newsletter, correspondence pertaining to political representation/professional matters, special formation report, special funding report)
